At the Physics League Across Numerous Countries for Kick-ass Students (PLANCKS) 2025, an international physics tournament scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain, from May 1–5, four M.Sc. Physics students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi will represent India.
For bachelor’s and master’s students, there is an international physics competition called the Physics League Across Numerous Countries for Kick-ass Students (PLANCKS). The event, which spans four thrilling days, features a program packed of social and scientific events in addition to a difficult physics competition. Students from all over the world gather to explore the research environment and culture of the host nation while competing, interacting, and sharing their love of physics.

Students from more than 25 nations will participate in the event, which is being hosted by the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Of the three Indian teams chosen from a national qualification of 41 teams, the IIT Mandi team —which consists of Aneet Kaur, Bhavya, Kumar Ashish, and Bhanu Pratap Singh is the only one from an IIT. They were given the chance to compete internationally after placing second in the Indian Young Physicists League (IYPL) 2025. The annual competition has been run by the International Association of Physics Students for nearly a decade. It provides a space for students to collaborate, solve challenging physics problems, and share knowledge across national and academic boundaries.
It is truly a noteworthy milestone for our school that four of our kids have been chosen for PLANCKS 2025. According to Dr. Bindu Radhamany, Chairperson of the School of Physical Sciences at IIT Mandi, “such an academic competition will help to expand our students’ experience towards their journey in learning and cultural exchange among the participants around the world.”
“Teams from top universities around the nation competed in the tournament, overcoming difficult physics tasks. Along with teams from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, IITs, and IISERs, IIT Mandi stood out as one of the top contenders among the Indian teams that qualified for PLANCKS 2025” Dr. Radhamany continued.
