According to her, the new system will require parents, school administrators, and other interested parties to participate in the fee-fixing process.
Parents of students attending private schools throughout the nation’s capital were reassured by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood on Saturday that fees would be regulated and charges would be set transparently.
The parents conveyed their appreciation to the education minister and chief minister for proposing a bill to control school fees. In a statement, they called the proposed legislation a “landmark decision” that would help students and their families.
Speaking to the crowd, the chief minister promised that the government would make sure Delhi’s schools are free from discrimination. “Parents or students can come directly to my office or the education minister if any school harasses them over fees,” she stated.

The chief minister called the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fee) Bill, 2025, a historic step. According to Gupta, the bill will guarantee fee regulation through an open process and be applicable to all 1,677 private schools in Delhi. According to her, the new system will require parents, school administrators, and other interested parties to participate in the fee-fixing process.
Additionally, Gupta stated that the government is building 65 new CM Shri Schools with first-rate amenities, which she thinks will persuade parents to choose public schools over private ones.
Speaking to the crowd, Education Minister Ashish Sood stated that the government moved decisively under Chief Minister Gupta’s leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction.
According to Sood, there were cases of informal agreements between officials and school administrators during the previous administration, and school fees were increased yearly without supervision. He claimed that “parents were left powerless, and trust in the system declined.”
He brought up the example of a Dwarka private school whose parents had been demonstrating against fee increases since 2020. At that time, nothing was done. However, a committee headed by the District Magistrate was established after we took office in 2025. For the first time, orders against fee irregularities were issued by the Delhi High Court as a result of its report,” he said.
