CBSE Introduces Daily Positive Affirmations in Morning Assemblies from 2025-26

CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to implement daily positive affirmations in morning assemblies from the 2025–26 academic year. With the goal of enhancing students’ emotional strength and a positive self-image, the initiative is a move towards values-oriented education that promotes clarity, calmness, and confidence in students’ behavior.

As per an official announcement by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the initiative is a part of a larger plan to incorporate socio-emotional learning into school practices. Positive affirmations—brief, empowering statements—are likely to assist students in building emotional regulation, a growth mindset, and more robust self-esteem.

The CBSE has instructed the schools to make one to two affirmations daily as part of the morning assembly. These will be age-group specific, respectful, and drawn from fundamental values like empathy, courage, respect, and self-discipline. The schools were provided with freedom to tailor the affirmations based on their institution’s ethos and values.

CBSE schools are now being requested to introspect: How will incorporating positive affirmations affect students’ mental well-being, and how much should schools do to enhance psychological resilience?

The move, CBSE stated, is undertaken with several purposes:

  • To facilitate socio-emotional growth in students.
  • To create a positive and courteous school climate.
  • To inculcate everyday self-reflection and management of emotions.
  • To enable children to start their school day feeling mentally alert and optimistic.

The board has also included a list of recommended affirmations that can be accepted or modified by schools, such as:

  • “I am always happy.”
  • “I am peaceful and stable in all situations.”
  • “My mind is sharp and my concentration is good.”
  • “I consume healthy foods; my body is healthy and free from disease.”
  • “I only use gadgets for learning.”
  • “I honor everyone. I honor nature.”

CBSE emphasized that these affirmations should not only resonate with students’ daily lives but also foster mindfulness and intrinsic motivation. By repeating such affirmations, the board believes students can gradually internalize these values, leading to better mental health outcomes and enhanced focus.

Schools have also been asked to observe and analyze the impact of affirmations on students. CBSE anticipates institutions to look for changes in behavior, emotional changes, and general mood swings, and record feedback and best practices. This feedback system will be used as a basis to improve and change the program over time.

In its release, CBSE emphasized that wholesome education goes beyond academic brilliance and involves building students’ emotional intelligence and mental health. The board explained that it remains committed to a learning culture in which students feel safe, motivated, and bonded.

Teachers and school administrators are also encouraged to build an interactive affirmation system, potentially engaging students in daily phrase selection and reflection. Parents can also be engaged to support the reinforcement of these regular affirmations at home, building a positive and consistent learning environment.

The initiative is in line with international education trends that focus on mental well-being as a central aspect of school curricula. As concerns over anxiety, academic pressure, and digital distractions among students grow, CBSE’s affirmation initiative is viewed as a timely and proactive measure.

Educationists have largely welcomed the move. They believe it brings a much-needed focus on students’ internal growth and emotional literacy—skills increasingly crucial in the 21st-century world. Many also view it as a step in the right direction in reducing classroom stress and improving learning outcomes.

The CBSE has promised that it will keep supporting schools in the implementation of this initiative. Schools will also be provided with resource material and voluntary training to make the affirmation sessions effective.

As the 2025-26 session draws near, schools all over the country will start gearing up to incorporate this simple yet possibly revolutionary ritual into their day-to-day activities. By doing so, CBSE aims to cultivate not only academically successful students, but also confident, reflective, and emotionally sound individuals.
