XLRI Launches 2 New Hybrid Public Policy and HRM Programs for Driven Professionals

The Xavier School of Management (XLRI), Jamshedpur, has introduced two innovative one-year hybrid programs—Public Policy and Sustainable Leadership (PPSL) and Public Human Resources Management (PHRM). Designed to cater to a wide spectrum of working professionals, the Hybrid Public Policy and HRM Programs courses reflect XLRI’s commitment to advancing leadership in public service and sustainable governance. The application window is now open and will close on June 30, with classes scheduled to commence on July 28. Interested candidates can apply via the official website xlri.ac.in.

Designed in Partnership with the Government of India

What makes these programs unique is their collaborative design with the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India. This close coordination ensures that the programs are not only academically sound but also aligned with real-time administrative and governance needs. The Government will sponsor Group “A” officers through DoPT, encouraging public service professionals to participate and upskill.

Who Can Apply?

While Group “A” officers will be part of the program, professionals from corporates, NGOs, civil services, and development organizations are also eligible and welcome to be a part of this program. This makes for a rich learning cohort where public and private sector professionals can share experiences, perspectives, and ideas—thereby bridging the gap between business and governance.

Hybrid Public Policy and HRM Programs

Both the PPSL and PHRM programs are hybrid in nature, offering flexibility to working individuals while maintaining academic depth.

  • PPSL features six modules, each of 30 hours, combining online learning with immersive campus residencies.
  • PHRM, on the other hand, includes three 60-hour modules, also blending weekend online sessions with on-campus sessions.
Together, each course delivers 180 hours of instruction, designed to accommodate work schedules with weekend online classes and short campus immersions that provide face-to-face engagement.

Guided by XLRI Faculty and Industry Experts

Classes will be conducted by experienced XLRI faculty along with industry experts, ensuring that participants receive a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights. The program directors—Prof. MG Jomon (PHRM) and Prof. Kalyan Bhaskar (PPSL)—highlighted the objective of these programs as nurturing visionary leaders equipped to make a positive impact in public policy and governance sectors.

“These programs reflect XLRI’s commitment to developing visionary leaders for public service and sustainable governance through advanced education, ethical grounding, and practical exposure,” they emphasized in a joint statement.

Real Impact: Building the Future of Public Leadership

Beyond individual growth, these programs aim to strengthen the leadership pipeline within public institutions. The courses foster a multi-sectoral learning environment, enabling participants to collaborate across disciplines and sectors. This initiative will help build institutions and policies ready to face tomorrow’s governance and development challenges—ensuring more future-proof, citizen-centric governance models.

Convocation and Recognition

Upon successful completion, students will attend a formal convocation—a symbolic end to a year of intense yet rewarding learning. With recognition from XLRI and the Government of India, graduates of these programs are expected to emerge as well-rounded leaders, equipped to navigate the complexities of public service, human resource management, and policy-making.

With the application deadline of June 30 fast approaching, aspiring leaders are encouraged to apply as soon as they can. Whether you’re a government officer, NGO leader, HR professional, or a policy enthusiast, these programs offer an unparalleled opportunity to gain cutting-edge knowledge, expand your professional network, and contribute meaningfully to public service.
