Jamia Millia Islamia Invites Applications for 2025–26 Distance and Online Programmes

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has officially opened admissions for its 2025–26 academic session under the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). The announcement comes alongside the release of the centre’s latest prospectus, which outlines an extensive range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate courses available in both distance and online modes.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official admission portal — jmi.ucanapply.com — with deadlines varying depending on the course type.

Prospectus Release and Vision for 2025–26

The 2025–26 prospectus was unveiled last week by Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif and Registrar Prof. Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi, in the presence of CDOE Dean Prof. M. Moshahid Alam Rizvi and members of the Prospectus Committee. According to the official statement, the document provides detailed information on admission procedures, course structures, and the learner support services available to enrolled students.

Prof. Asif emphasised that the university’s vision aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP), aiming to expand educational opportunities to learners across India. “The aim should be to reach learners in all regions,” he said, underlining the importance of increasing enrolment and accessibility nationwide.

Wide Range of Postgraduate Options

The CDOE has curated a robust selection of postgraduate programmes for the 2025–26 academic year. Applicants can choose from MA programmes in Hindi, Urdu, English, Education, Geography, History, Islamic Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, and Sociology.

In the field of commerce and management, options include an MCom, MBA, and an MA in Human Resource Management. These courses are designed to be flexible yet academically rigorous, catering to both working professionals and fresh graduates who prefer a remote learning environment.

Undergraduate Programmes for Diverse Interests

For students seeking undergraduate qualifications, the CDOE is offering BEd, BA, BCom, BBA, and BCIBF programmes. These courses aim to provide foundational knowledge along with practical skills that can enhance employability. The BEd programme, in particular, remains one of the centre’s most sought-after offerings due to its relevance in the education sector.

Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas in Specialised Fields

The prospectus also lists an array of postgraduate diplomas, including:

  • Guidance and Counselling
  • Geoinformatics

Additionally, the advanced diploma programmes cover seven niche areas:

  • Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  • Public Policy and Governance
  • International Relations and Global Governance
  • Educational Media Production
  • Mass Media in Hindi
  • Mass Media in Urdu
  • Taxation

These specialised programmes are particularly beneficial for professionals aiming to upgrade their skills or pivot to a new career path.

New Certificate Courses for Skill Development

This year, CDOE has introduced two new certificate courses:

  1. Information Technology
  2. Computer Hardware and Network Technology

Both courses are designed to meet the growing demand for technical skills in today’s job market, providing learners with practical, industry-relevant expertise.

Application Deadlines and Admission Process

  • Non-entrance test programmes: Applications are open until 31 August 2025.
  • Entrance test-based programmes (MBA, BEd): Last date to apply is 21 August 2025.

Candidates can access the complete prospectus and application forms on the JMI Controller of Examinations website. The prospectus also details learner support centres, course delivery methods, and assessment procedures to help applicants make informed decisions.

Expanding Reach Through Distance and Online Learning

Jamia Millia Islamia’s CDOE has steadily built a reputation for offering quality education that transcends geographical barriers. By combining structured course content with flexible delivery, the university enables learners from diverse backgrounds — including working professionals, rural students, and those unable to attend regular classes — to access higher education.

As the Vice Chancellor pointed out, the expansion of the learner base is a strategic priority in line with the NEP’s push for inclusive and accessible education. By introducing new courses and maintaining a wide programme variety, the university is positioning itself as a leader in distance and online education in India.

With the admission window now open, prospective students have the opportunity to enrol in nationally recognised programmes that blend academic excellence with flexibility — a combination that is increasingly valuable in today’s evolving education landscape.
