A special team has started investigating a terrible fire at a business building in Lucknow’s Aliganj area. The fire, which broke out on Monday, killed 15 people and injured seven others. Most of those who died were young people under the age of 30.

The building is a three-storey complex located on Usha Mehta Marg in Sector D.

Investigators Rush to the Scene

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered a high-level probe into the incident. Following his directions, a two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed. The team includes two top officials:

  • Amrit Abhijat (Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism)
  • Praveen Kumar (Additional Director General of Police, Lucknow Zone)

The SIT reached the fire site on Tuesday morning to begin their work. “We have come here and will investigate all aspects of the incident. We will complete the probe within the stipulated time and ensure necessary action,” Praveen Kumar told reporters at the location.

Before the SIT arrived, a six-member team of forensic experts also reached the spot to study the scene. The investigation wants to find out exactly what caused the fire, what safety rules were broken, and who is responsible for the tragedy.

Nearby Cities Begin Safety Checks

The tragedy in Lucknow has alarmed authorities in other cities. In Kanpur, officials have immediately ordered safety checks at local businesses and coaching institutes to prevent a similar disaster.

Kanpur Dehat District Magistrate Kapil Singh stated that they know of about 37 coaching centres running in the city.

“Sub-District Magistrate (SDM), Fire Officer, and other officials have been directed to conduct thorough inspections at such centres as well as other commercial establishments to check whether fire-related measures are being followed or not,” Kapil Singh said.

Officials have also been asked to talk to local residents living near these coaching centres to ensure proper safety steps are taken to save lives in case of any future emergencies.
