MCC Confirms No Change in NEET UG 2026 Counselling Timeline

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has clarified that the NEET UG 2026 counselling schedule will continue as planned despite the National Medical Commission (NMC) issuing revised guidelines related to the assessment of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). The clarification aims to reassure candidates that the counselling process for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats and other participating institutions will proceed without disruption.

The announcement comes after concerns among aspirants that the revised disability assessment guidelines could delay the counselling process.

Revised PwBD Guidelines Introduced

The NMC has updated the procedure for evaluating PwBD candidates seeking admission to undergraduate medical courses. The revised framework is intended to make the disability assessment process more transparent and consistent across designated medical boards while ensuring eligible candidates receive the benefits available under reservation rules.

The updated guidelines apply specifically to disability certification and do not alter the overall counselling calendar.

Rules for NRI and OCI Candidates Also Clarified

Alongside the PwBD notification, authorities have also issued clarifications regarding eligibility and documentation requirements for NRI and OCI candidates participating in NEET UG counselling. These notices are aimed at ensuring uniform implementation of admission rules across participating institutions and counselling authorities.

Candidates have been advised to carefully review the latest notifications before completing registration and document verification.

Counselling Process Continues as Scheduled

MCC has reiterated that candidates should follow the published counselling schedule and complete all required steps, including registration, choice filling, document verification, and fee payment, within the prescribed deadlines. Any updates or modifications will be communicated only through official notifications.

Students are encouraged to rely only on official announcements and avoid misinformation circulating on social media.

What Aspirants Should Do

Candidates participating in NEET UG 2026 counselling should regularly monitor the official MCC portal for updates, ensure that all required documents are ready, and verify their eligibility under the applicable category guidelines before submitting their applications.

With the counselling process moving ahead as scheduled, timely completion of each stage will be essential for securing admission to MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical programmes.
