According to education consultants, a rising number of students have been entering Australia on student visas but failing to attend classes or engaging in illegal employment, which has raised red flags among Australian authorities.
Among the affected states, Gujarat is expected to feel the greatest impact. With nearly 20 percent of students from the state choosing Australia as their study destination, the new restrictions are likely to disrupt plans for many. This decision has also triggered concern within the student community and among foreign education consultants who believe that a blanket ban is unfair to genuine applicants.
Many students had already spent months preparing for their applications, completing their IELTS exams and gathering documents. Now they are left in a difficult position, unsure of what comes next. Consultants are calling for a more balanced approach where each application is assessed on its own merits rather than denying all candidates from certain states.
This situation highlights the growing tension between managing immigration policies and supporting international education. While Australia remains an attractive destination, this sudden shift may push many Indian students to consider alternatives like Canada, the UK, or even smaller European countries.
