
BITS Pilani to Establish Rs 1000 Crore AI+ Campus in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh
In a visionary move set to reshape the future of technological education in India, BITS Pilani has announced the establishment of a cutting-edge AI+ Campus in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, with a projected investment of ₹1,000 crore over the next five years.
This announcement was made by Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chancellor of BITS Pilani and Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, during the institute’s convocation ceremony held on July 13. The initiative reflects BITS Pilani’s commitment to preparing India’s next generation of leaders in frontier technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, and data science.
A Future-Ready AI+ Campus
Spread across 35 acres, the Amaravati campus is envisioned as a dynamic innovation hub designed to seamlessly blend academic excellence, research, and entrepreneurship. The AI+ Campus is part of a broader mission to establish BITS Pilani as a global leader in science and technology education with a strong focus on next-generation disciplines.
“This will be a one-of-a-kind campus,” said Kumar Mangalam Birla. “Our goal is to prepare Indian talent for leadership roles in the defining technologies of the 21st century.”
The campus will specialise in:

Global Standards and Unique Programs
The Amaravati campus will not only host traditional degree programs but will introduce innovative academic models, including:
- Undergraduate twinning programs with international universities
- Cotutelle doctoral degrees (joint PhD programs) with top global institutions
