CLAT 2025: Delhi High Court Orders Revised UG Results

CLAT 2025- In a major turn of events for thousands of law aspirants, the Delhi High Court has instructed the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLUs) to recalculate the marksheets and re-publish the final list of selected candidates for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) Undergraduate 2025 within four weeks. This ruling comes after several petitions alleging the CLAT UG 2025 answer key to be incorrect on grounds of mistakes in a number of questions.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice D. K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela heard objections raised by test-takers concerning 17 challenged questions in the CLAT UG 2025 exam. The court held fourteen objections, accepting on four questions, admitting errors in the answer key while rejecting others. The bench strictly pointed out that the errors cropped up from within the Consortium itself, specifically questions paper sets B, C, and D. Therefore, the candidates should in no way be penalized due to any wrong or left answers to these incorrect questions.

The order of the court directs the Consortium to uniformly apply the revised evaluation on all candidates with fairness in the assessment process, including awarding proper marks for the found wrong questions to all the concerned examinees.

CLAT 2025: Why Did the Delhi High Court Intervene?

The CLAT UG 2025 test, held on December 1, 2024, with results declared on December 7, 2024, came under the scanner after candidates reported discrepancies in the answer key. Petitions were moved in different high courts, claiming flaws in the question paper and answer key. Appreciating the need for uniform adjudication, the Supreme Court directed all connected petitions to be transferred to the Delhi High Court on February 6, 2025.

During the hearings, the Consortium conceded mistakes in at least two questions, admitting that wrong options were given as correct answers. An oversight committee examined the objections, and the court decided to modify the marksheets and the final list of selected candidates.

The court’s decision is likely to affect the rankings and seat allocations of several candidates, which could change the dynamics of the upcoming counselling sessions. The Consortium has been tasked with preparing for the court’s orders within a four-week time frame and announcing the re-totaled results.

Though the existing judgment is dealing with the undergraduate examination, there are petitions pending in the Delhi High Court questioning questions in the CLAT PG 2025 exam. The results of these proceedings may also shape the admission process for postgraduate law programs.

Meanwhile, the Consortium is endeavoring to rescore the results, and candidates are recommended to remain informed through official means for notifications on the revised merit list and subsequent counselling processes.

For more information and updates on CLAT 2025, candidates should visit the official Consortium website and keep informed about subsequent legal developments regarding the examination.
