The Delhi government has rolled out a major education initiative—Delhi AI Grind—designed to teach artificial intelligence (AI) skills to students starting from Class 6. The programme aims to build a citywide culture of innovation, problem-solving, and tech-readiness among students aged 10 to 25 years.
According to the Directorate of Education (DoE), participation will be mandatory for students of Classes 6–9 and Class 11, while older learners, including college and ITI students, can join through institutional participation.

What Is Delhi AI Grind?
Delhi AI Grind is a multi-stage AI learning and innovation programme that will be implemented across all education districts from December to March. It is part of the government’s NEEEV (New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Vision) framework, which focuses on building entrepreneurial and futuristic skills among youth.
The initiative is being jointly led by:
- Department of Education, Higher & Technical Education
- ViSV Foundation
- School Innovation Councils (SICs)
- NEEEV-trained teachers, who will mentor students
What Students Will Learn
The programme aims to help students understand AI not as a buzzword but as a real-world problem-solving tool. Students will be exposed to:
- AI applications in transport & mobility
- Urban logistics and supply chain optimisation
- Smart city and civic service tech
- Sustainability & environmental solutions
- Clean energy and air quality monitoring
- AI tools for climate action
- Health, wellbeing & digital health tech
- Public safety, governance, and urban planning
- Education technology and future skills
The overarching goal is to make students comfortable with AI concepts like data, patterns, automation, and design thinking—while encouraging them to design solutions for Delhi’s real civic and environmental challenges.
How the Programme Will Run
The Delhi AI Grind will follow a structured, citywide timeline:
1. Orientation Phase
Schools register on the Delhi AI Grind portal and nominate five campus ambassadors by December 8. These ambassadors will help coordinate school-level activities.
2. School-Level Mini Grinds
Starting December 15, students participate in introductory workshops, brainstorming sessions, and hands-on activities.
Schools conduct internal evaluations to shortlist promising student projects.
3. District-Level Selection
Selected students compete at the district level, showcasing their innovations to expert panels.
4. City-Level Showcase
Winning projects from across Delhi meet in a final innovation showcase that highlights the city’s most impactful student-led AI solutions.
5. Post-Programme Activities
Students are guided into advanced learning pathways, mentorship programmes, and innovation challenges.
Who Will Participate? The Three Target Tiers
