New ‘School Web App’ by Delhi Government

The Delhi government has unveiled the ‘School Web App’, a new digital platform designed to modernise learning and streamline school administration across the capital. The initiative aims to make Delhi’s public-school system smarter, transparent, and accessible for students, parents, and teachers alike.

Education Minister Ashish Sood, speaking at the launch event, said the platform reflects the government’s commitment to Digital India and Viksit Bharat 2047. The app will serve as a single gateway for all school-related services—from timetables and attendance to results and communication—eliminating paperwork and delays.

“Now, time will not be wasted searching for information. Instead, information will reach students directly. This is the true essence of digital empowerment,” said Sood.

One Unified Platform for Delhi’s Schools

Through the School Web App, students can easily access homework, class schedules, learning material, and exam updates. Teachers will be able to upload notes, mark attendance, and share progress reports in real time. Parents, too, can log in to monitor their child’s academic performance, attendance, and behavioral notes—bridging the gap between home and school.

Officials explained that the app has been developed as a secure, mobile-friendly web platform with unique logins for students, teachers, and parents. It will integrate existing government databases, allowing schools to maintain digital records of enrolment, examinations, infrastructure, and extracurricular participation.

Sood emphasised that such technology will reduce teachers’ administrative workload, freeing up more time for lesson planning and classroom interaction. “This app isn’t just a convenience tool—it’s a productivity revolution inside classrooms,” he said.

Aligned with NEP 2020 and Fit India

The Education Minister noted that the initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which promotes digital literacy, skill-based learning, and holistic student development. The platform also integrates activities under the Fit India campaign, encouraging physical wellbeing alongside academic excellence.

Students will find features that promote creativity and entrepreneurship—such as access to innovation challenges, career counselling links, and online competitions. According to the Directorate of Education, these components are designed to make learning interactive and relevant to the 21st-century job market.

“The digital platform will nurture innovation and entrepreneurial thinking by making information and opportunities easily accessible,” said Sood, adding that it will also serve as a repository for NEP-aligned project work and practical assessments.

Stronger Parent-Teacher Communication

One of the most appreciated features is the real-time parent notification system. Parents will receive automated updates on attendance, grades, and assignments through the app, reducing the communication gap that often exists in large schools.

The move, officials say, reflects the Delhi government’s broader goal of fostering community-driven education, where parents play an active role in the learning journey. “Education works best when families and schools collaborate. This app makes that collaboration seamless,” said a senior official at the Directorate of Education.

Boosting Transparency and Efficiency

The Delhi government has long been working on digitising school operations—from online admissions to digital report cards—and the School Web App marks a major step forward.

With over 1,000 government schools under its purview, Delhi’s education department faces vast administrative challenges. The new platform is expected to bring greater transparency to attendance records, mark entries, and resource allocation. Each school’s data will feed into a central dashboard monitored by district education officers, ensuring faster response times and accountability.

Education experts have lauded the initiative as a model for other states. “Digitisation is no longer optional—it’s essential for scalability and fairness,” said an ed-tech consultant. “The Delhi model is now extending beyond infrastructure to include governance and parental engagement, which is where the real impact lies.”

Technology and Training Ahead

To ensure a smooth rollout, the government plans to train teachers and administrative staff through dedicated workshops starting this month. Technical support teams will be deployed at the zonal level to handle troubleshooting and data security compliance.

Officials confirmed that data privacy safeguards have been embedded within the system, with encryption protocols protecting sensitive student and staff information. The government also plans to introduce a feedback module to collect suggestions from users during the pilot phase.

A Step Toward Smarter Classrooms

The School Web App is part of Delhi’s larger effort to make education more interactive, transparent, and data-driven. The app will eventually integrate with national digital systems such as DIKSHA and UDISE+, creating a seamless flow of academic information across institutions.

As Sood summed up at the launch:

“When determination is strong, results are equally powerful. This app will be a milestone towards a brighter, more connected future for the children of Delhi.”
