How Delhi schools are cleaning up Yamuna water now

School teaches to clean holy river Yamuna

Officials say that raising children’s awareness of the Yamuna River’s importance and connecting them to the broader cleanliness movement is the campaign’s main objective.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta claims that in an attempt to increase awareness of the significance of reviving the holy river, the Delhi government has decided to introduce the “Maa Yamuna Swachhta Abhiyan” in all of the country’s schools.

Officials say that raising children’s awareness of the Yamuna River’s importance and connecting them to the broader cleanliness movement is the campaign’s main objective.

We place a high priority on cleaning up the Yamuna River. Through this school, we hope to show them how important the Yamuna issue is to us. With everyone’s assistance, we must speed up the river’s cleaning process,” the chief minister said.

Water Minister Parvesh Verma requested in a letter to Education Minister Ashish Sood that the campaign be implemented in all government, government-aided, and private schools in Delhi.
The Yamuna is more than just a river; it is the lifeblood of Delhi. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachhata Abhiyan (Cleanliness Mission), Verma said, “We are connecting children with the cause of cleanliness and environmental conservation through ‘Maa Yamuna Swachhta Abhiyan.'”

Schools will organize a range of activities as part of the “Maa Yamuna Swachhta Abhiyan.” These include essay competitions about the importance of a clean Yamuna, art and drawing contests about river and environmental conservation, debates, speeches, and street play events about water pollution and conservation, as well as awareness campaigns and clean Yamuna pledges to promote behavior change. Yamuna-themed cultural performances will also be promoted at annual school functions.

“If we teach our children today about the importance of rivers and the environment, they will grow up to be responsible citizens and play a vital role in building a clean and green India. Delhi’s future is incomplete without a clean Yamuna,” Verma added. gh gh gh gh gh gh gh gh gh gh gh gh ghg gh gh gh gh gh gh gh

According to a release, the “Maa Yamuna Swachhta Abhiyan” will host awareness walks, cultural events, painting and sketching competitions, and essay writing contests.
The Delhi Jal Board will collaborate with the Directorate of Education to provide schools with the necessary awareness kits, teaching materials, and other resources in order to promote this program.
