IIM Jammu Joins Elite League with Two Prestigious Global Accreditations
IIM Jammu in a landmark achievement has cemented its place among India’s top management institutions by earning two major international accreditations in the same academic year. With this, IIM Jammu becomes the fifth IIM among the 21 across the country to secure both BGA (Business Graduates Association) and EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) accreditations—an exceptional milestone for a second-generation IIM established just a few years ago.
A Rare Double Recognition
The dual accreditations reflect IIM Jammu’s rising stature and global ambitions. While many management institutes across the world spend decades pursuing such recognition, IIM Jammu has achieved this rare distinction in a relatively short span. This accomplishment is not just symbolic but carries significant academic and institutional weight, opening up pathways for greater international collaborations, academic mobility, and global credibility.
The BGA accreditation, awarded for a full five-year term, was granted after an in-depth institutional review carried out by a peer review team from the Business Graduates Association, which operates under the London-based Association of MBAs (AMBA). The team visited the IIM Jammu campus in January 2025, meeting with students, faculty members, administrative leadership, alumni, and corporate partners.
What stood out during the evaluation was IIM Jammu’s dynamic leadership, rapid institutional growth, commitment to governance, and significant social impact. Notably, the review team chose to award the maximum tenure of five years, a decision typically reserved for long-established institutions—a clear endorsement of the institute’s exceptional performance and strategic vision.
EFMD Accreditation for Flagship MBA Programme
Soon after, IIM Jammu underwent a rigorous programme-level evaluation by the EFMD for its flagship MBA programme. The EFMD Peer Review Team visited the institute in March 2025 and assessed the MBA on several key parameters, including internationalisation, curriculum relevance, innovation, ethical values, and student experience.
The outcome was overwhelmingly positive. During its board meeting in Austria on June 17, 2025, EFMD officially confirmed a three-year accreditation, commending the institute for its student engagement practices, leadership development approach, and globally oriented curriculum design.
This EFMD accreditation is a significant step in aligning IIM Jammu’s academic offerings with global management education standards and further reinforces its commitment to continuous improvement.
Leadership Perspective: A Recognition and a Responsibility
Reacting to the announcement, Professor B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, called the twin accreditations a “recognition of the institute’s pursuit of excellence and global vision.” He noted that this success is a result of the collective efforts of faculty, students, staff, and institutional partners. “These accreditations are not just endorsements; they represent our responsibility to uphold world-class standards in management education,” he said.
Dr Milind P. Kamble, Chairman of the Board of Governors, underscored IIM Jammu’s alignment with India’s larger development goals. “As we work towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India), institutions like IIM Jammu will play a pivotal role in nurturing responsible leaders who can shape the future of business and governance.”
