This year’s cohort represents a blend of diverse academic backgrounds, with a strong presence of non-engineering students—marking a shift towards broader inclusivity in management education.

A Diverse and Promising Incoming Class

Out of the 643 students admitted across various postgraduate and doctoral programs, 49.30% come from non-engineering backgrounds, reflecting IIM Lucknow’s commitment to embracing diversity. The remaining 50.70% are from engineering disciplines, continuing the legacy of strong analytical talent that B-schools in India are known for.

The programs included in this year’s intake are:

  • Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP)
  • Post Graduate Program in Agribusiness Management (PGP-ABM)
  • Post Graduate Program in Sustainable Management (PGP-SM)

The gender diversity in the new class is equally encouraging, with 30% of the total intake comprising female students, another step toward balanced representation and inclusivity.

A Grand Welcome to Future Leaders

The inaugural session was a memorable one, graced by Ananth Narayan G, an alumnus from the 1993 batch of IIM Lucknow and currently a full-time member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). His presence added a sense of legacy and inspiration to the occasion.

These academic leaders welcomed the students and encouraged them to make the most of the transformational journey that lies ahead.

A Blend of Minds and Disciplines

IIM Lucknow’s student body this year includes individuals from varied academic streams like arts, commerce, management, agriculture, and engineering. The PGP program has 32% non-engineers, while the PGP-ABM program boasts a majority 68% non-engineering representation, showing a clear commitment to academic diversity.

This balance of skills and perspectives is expected to foster richer discussions, innovative ideas, and more well-rounded problem-solving approaches in the classroom.

Insightful Interactions and Induction Programs

As part of the induction program, new students will participate in a series of interactive talks with academic experts, industry professionals, and thought leaders. These sessions are designed to help them explore opportunities for both professional growth and personal development, setting the stage for a fulfilling two-year journey.

Words of Wisdom from Faculty Leaders

Welcoming the batch, Prof. Sanjeet Singh, Dean of Faculty, shared some thought-provoking words:

“What will set you apart at IIM Lucknow is your ability to think critically, challenge assumptions, and approach problems with both emotional intelligence and clarity of mind. Your strength lies in your diverse academic and cultural backgrounds—whether in engineering, the arts, commerce, or sciences. Over the next two years, IIM Lucknow will provide you with countless opportunities to grow, collaborate, and discover your own perspective. Welcome to a journey that will transform not only your career but also how you see the world.”

Such words set the tone for a learning environment that values individuality, creativity, and collective intelligence.

The new academic session at IIM Lucknow is more than just the beginning of a classroom journey. It’s the launchpad for future leaders, changemakers, and innovators. With nearly half of the batch coming from non-engineering backgrounds, the institute is truly shaping a new narrative in management education—one that thrives on inclusivity, diversity, and fresh perspectives.
