Lucknow University (LU) now allows students to pursue dual degrees with flexible online UG & PG courses, offering career support and industry-ready learning.
For students who dream of broadening their academic horizons without giving up on flexibility, Lucknow University (LU) has opened an exciting new opportunity. The university has announced admissions to its online degree programmes, allowing students to pursue two degrees simultaneously—one in traditional classroom mode and another online. This initiative caters not only to regular undergraduates and postgraduates but also to working professionals and those unable to attend classes due to time or geographical constraints.

Blending Flexibility with Quality Education
The new initiative allows learners to register for online programmes alongside their existing undergraduate or postgraduate courses. In other words, a student studying a traditional degree at LU or any other institution can now take up an additional degree through LU’s online platform. Professionals already employed in different sectors can also benefit by upgrading their qualifications without compromising on work commitments.
In this cycle, Lucknow University is offering nine online undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These include:
- BCom and MCom for those inclined towards commerce and business studies.
- BBA and MBA for aspirants seeking management careers.
- MA in English, Economics, Sanskrit, and Political Science, catering to humanities and social sciences enthusiasts.
- Master of Social Work (MSW), designed for those passionate about social development and community work.
This wide selection ensures that students across different streams find suitable options to align with their career goals.
“Dual Degree Friendly” Courses
Explaining the vision behind the move, Professor Geetanjali Mishra, Dean of Academics at LU, said, “Our online courses are dual-degree friendly, which means they can be pursued alongside ongoing programmes. We have designed them to be flexible, allowing candidates to learn at their own pace and convenience, irrespective of location.”
Professor Mishra further highlighted that LU’s online courses carry the same value and recognition as regular on-campus programmes. The only difference lies in the learning mode. Instead of attending classes physically, students engage with the course entirely through LU’s robust digital platform.
Technology-Driven Learning
The backbone of LU’s online education system is its centralised Learning Management System (LMS). This platform houses all course materials, assignments, and assessments, making it easy for students to access resources anytime, anywhere.
Moreover, the curriculum has been designed to meet industry requirements. Along with theoretical knowledge, emphasis is placed on building practical and professional skills that enhance employability. Students are trained in problem-solving, communication, and analytical thinking—skills that are in demand across industries.
LU has also aligned its online courses with the UGC-prescribed “four-quadrant” learning model. This means that learners will benefit from:
- Video tutorials for visual and interactive understanding.
- E-text study material to support comprehensive learning.
- Discussion forums where students and faculty can engage in academic dialogue.
- Periodic assessments to evaluate progress and maintain academic rigour.
This blended structure ensures a holistic learning experience similar to, if not better than, traditional classrooms.
Placement and Career Support
One of the highlights of LU’s initiative is its dedicated placement support for online students. The university has assured that online learners will receive guidance in navigating career opportunities, just like their on-campus peers. With growing acceptance of online degrees in both public and private sectors, this move makes LU’s graduates more competitive in the job market.
Accessibility and Affordability
Affordability and inclusivity remain at the core of this initiative. Professor Mishra emphasised that these courses are designed to ensure accessibility for a wide range of learners. Students from rural backgrounds, working individuals, or those unable to relocate to Lucknow can equally benefit. The online model reduces additional expenses like travel, accommodation, and physical resources, thereby making quality education more affordable.
A Step Towards Future-Ready Education
With this step, Lucknow University is positioning itself as a forward-looking institution, embracing digital innovation while maintaining academic quality. By allowing dual degrees, LU empowers students to diversify their qualifications, enhance their employability, and stay relevant in a rapidly changing job landscape.
For young learners, this is an opportunity to add an extra edge to their resumes. For working professionals, it opens the door to continuous upskilling without pausing their careers. Above all, it reflects LU’s commitment to making education flexible, accessible, and future-ready.
