Despite military hostilities between India and Pakistan, approximately 75 students of Kerala, studying in some frontier states’ universities, are coming back home, the state government informed on Saturday. The students will arrive at Kerala during daytime and on Sunday through different trains and flights, it added.

The students from many central and state universities in Jammu, Rajasthan, Punjab, and other such locations, bordering Pakistan, arrived at Kerala House in Delhi late last night and early morning on Saturday, a statement given by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated.

A few of the students, talking to the media in Delhi, reported that drone attacks were still continuing in areas such as Jalandhar in Punjab and many others, like them, were attempting to return home, but were struggling to obtain air or rail tickets. df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df gf hg hg

Opposition Leader in the Kerala legislature V D Satheesan added that he called up Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on phone to send back the stranded students from Kerala in light of the current India-Pakistan military clash and related tensions in border states.

Satheesan explained that there are about 240 Kerala students there in the conflict-stricken states and they were residing there in fear. df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df gf hg hg hg hg hg

He added that the CM ensured that immediate action will be initiated in the issue.

In the meantime, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member A A Rahim on Saturday requested the immediate intervention of Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in ensuring safe and timely return of individuals stranded in the border states to their homes. df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df dfg

Rahim, in a letter to Vaishnaw, alleged that students and workers, including those from Kerala, attempting to return from the border states during the ongoing conflict, are “struggling to get train tickets to return home due to the unavailability of seats in available services.”.

“The overcrowding of trains and insufficient connectivity are creating tremendous hardships, stranding many in transit cities or forced to pay extreme fares for alternate means of transport,” he added.

He requested the minister to add more coaches to all trains running on key north-south routes, especially those that run through Kerala, and establish special train services from key stations in north India and the west coast to Kerala and other concerned states to handle the influx of returnees.

Apart from that, he also pressed for emergency booking counters and helplines to help stranded workers and students acquire travel plans. df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df df gf hg hg hg

“I trust you will accord this issue the seriousness it warrants and take immediate action to solve the predicament of these citizens in these uncertain and trying times,” Rahim wrote in his letter.

Earlier in the day, the CMO statement further stated that a 24×7 control room has been established at Kerala House in New Delhi at Vijayan’s direction to render assistance and provide information to students from Kerala and others from the border states, it said.
