The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has decided to postpone the NEET PG 2025 exam, which was originally set for June 15.
According to the official announcement, the NEET PG 2025 will now take place in a single shift. To make this happen, additional test centers are being set up across the country. Consequently, the new exam dates will be revealed soon by the organizing body.

In the official notice, it was stated, “We, accordingly, direct the respondents to make necessary arrangements for holding the NEET-PG 2025 examination in one shift, duly ensuring that complete transparency is maintained and secure centres are identified and commissioned.”
NEET-PG single shift controversy
After a petition raised concerns about potential unfairness and inconsistencies with a two-shift format, the Supreme Court directed on May 30 that the post-graduate level medical entrance exam should be conducted in a single shift.
The Supreme Court bench, which included Justices Vikram Nath, Sanjay Kumar, and NK Anjaria, noted that conducting the exam in multiple sessions could lead to different levels of difficulty, resulting in perceived unfairness among candidates.
The apex court stressed that for an exam of such national significance, maintaining uniform standards is essential.
This ruling followed arguments from petitioners who pointed out that NEET-PG has historically been a single-shift, single-day examination, ensuring that all candidates are evaluated under the same conditions.
The bench also mentioned that NBE could request an extension if they find that the necessary arrangements can’t be completed by the original exam date of June 15, as reported by PTI.
NEET PG 2025 exam revised dates
The NEET PG 2025 exam was initially scheduled for June 15, but NBEMS has announced that the date has been postponed to allow for the establishment of more test centers and infrastructure. The new dates will be shared soon, according to the official release.
