Quality education was the central focus of the state-level review meeting conducted by the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Held in Hyderabad, the meeting brought together District Intermediate Education Officers (DIEOs) and Principals of Government Junior Colleges (GJCs) to outline a roadmap for improved academic outcomes and holistic student support across the state.
Chaired by Dr. Yogita Rana, IAS, Secretary to Government, Education Department, and Krishna Aditya, IAS, Secretary and Director of Intermediate Education, the session laid emphasis on creating a unified effort to ensure that every student in government colleges receives meaningful academic guidance and necessary support. As shared in the meeting, approximately 75,000 students are currently enrolled in first-year Intermediate courses in GJCs for the ongoing academic year.
Strengthening Student Tracking with UDISE
A key takeaway from the meeting was the insistence on accurate recording of all student admissions in the UDISE (Unified District Information System for Education) database. Officials stressed that reliable data is vital for planning, monitoring, and delivering timely interventions. Institutions were reminded to regularly update the system and ensure zero discrepancies in enrollment records.
Further, increasing student enrollments and ensuring full participation in the Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) were identified as immediate goals. DIEOs and Principals were asked to monitor attendance and academic progress to help students stay on track.

Academic Committees and Holistic Programs
To deepen academic engagement, Krishna Aditya directed the formation of academic committees in all GJCs. These committees will work on designing and implementing integrated academic programs focused not just on syllabus completion, but also on the overall growth and development of students. The aim is to nurture well-rounded individuals equipped with both knowledge and life skills.
A strong push was also made to organize regular Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) in each college. These PTMs are expected to boost community involvement and create a transparent feedback loop between parents, teachers, and administrators.
Free Coaching for Competitive Exams
One of the most notable announcements was the introduction of free online coaching for national-level competitive exams like JEE, NEET, CLAT, and EAPCET. Students will have access to these resources through trusted platforms such as Physics Wallah and Khan Academy, making quality coaching more accessible, especially for students from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Supporting Rural and Underprivileged Students
The department also acknowledged the importance of transportation and hostel facilities in promoting education equity. Officials shared that coordination with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) and various welfare departments is underway to enhance access to colleges for students from remote areas.
Institutions were further instructed to introduce engaging academic activities to improve attendance. The department emphasized that learning should not feel like a burden, and principals were encouraged to promote participation in leadership development programs, sports, and cultural events as part of regular campus life.
Focus on Scholarships and Financial Aid
Timely registration for scholarships emerged as another point of discussion. The welfare departments offer financial aid to eligible students, and college staff were asked to ensure that every student is informed and assisted during the application process. Scholarships, in many cases, serve as a critical support system that enables students to continue their studies without financial pressure.
A Future-Oriented Approach
The review meeting concluded on a forward-looking note, with officials reiterating their commitment to an inclusive, student-centered education system. Senior officials, including Jayaprada Bai, Controller of Examinations, participated in the discussions and echoed the call for immediate implementation of the discussed reforms.
As Telangana reaffirms its focus on quality education, the roadmap outlined in this meeting marks a promising step towards academic excellence, increased equity, and the empowerment of thousands of intermediate students across the state.
