What does Tamil Nadu’s youth says?

A teenager from Madurai remarked, “We were shocked to hear an announcement over the public address system that the examination had been cancelled.” But for over an hour, the candidates stood outside the center to be sure the news was real.

In order to get to Chennai, hundreds of us set out on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from various districts in Tamil Nadu. To get to Hyderabad, we took a different train. Another young person from the Tiruchi district claimed that the officials abruptly announced the cancellation after at least 20 hours of travel and significant financial outlays.

According to the young people, approximately 50,000 applicants took the CPT-I, which was held in Tamil Nadu by RRB Chennai and RRB Thiruvananthapuram. Approximately 6,000 of us who made the CPT-II shortlist were assigned to centers outside of Tamil Nadu. All of the problems we have encountered today stem from this,” a young person stated.

Short-term travel

The candidates claimed that the hall passes for the Wednesday exam were only distributed on Saturday, March 15, 2025. “Even train tickets were unavailable to us. Since thousands of us were traveling to Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Vijayawada, the railway authorities might have at least run special trains to assist us,” one of the candidates stated.

One of them was unable to acquire a berth, therefore he had to cancel three Tatkal tickets. Some of them paid ₹1,500 for the bus ride from Chennai to Hyderabad, but others were forced to share the crowded, unreserved coaches since they could not afford it.

The job seekers arrived in Hyderabad at 8 a.m. and proceeded to their centers via autorickshaws and Metro trains, only to discover that the test had been canceled. The young people found it challenging to obtain three days of leave from the private enterprises where they were employed. Another young person stated, “I have also suffered losses as a result of closing my shop for three days in order to attend this exam.”

As they left the testing locations, the candidates had to deal with yet another difficult reality: returning home. “Over the past two days, we had traveled to Hyderabad via various trains. However, it will be worse now since we will all be going back in large numbers,” remarked another young person.

When and where the postponed exam will be held next is another significant worry for the disgruntled job seekers. One of them lamented, “We will have to go through the same ordeals again in the near future because of the Railway Board’s blunder today.”

MP of Madurai flays RRB

Despite making the job applicants travel more than 1,500 kilometers, Madurai MP Su. Venkatesan has accused RRB of “gross negligence” for failing to conduct the examination on time. He requested a thorough investigation into the “technical glitch” that apparently caused the exam to be canceled.

He recalled that the RRB had refused to comply with the demand to hold the exam in Tamil Nadu, claiming that it was unable to locate exam centers within the state.

In a social media post, the MP stated, “The exam cancellation has caused a furor among the job aspirants.” “This has seriously called into question the Railway Recruitment Board’s credibility,” Mr. Venkatesan stated.

Additionally, he insisted that the Railways reimburse the young people for the inconvenience the RRB had given them. He also insisted that CPT-II be held in Tamil Nadu next by the Railway Board and RRB.
