UID Correction has become a priority for schools across Kerala as the Directorate of General Education has issued a circular allowing time till July 16 to fix minor errors in students’ UID records on the Sampoorna portal. These corrections are vital for determining the required teaching staff in schools, as per the Kerala Education Rules.
The need for this correction drive arose after it was found that several invalid UIDs (Unique Identity Numbers) had been uploaded on Sampoorna on the sixth working day of the 2025–26 academic year. Under current rules, students are required to have valid UID details uploaded by this day, but discrepancies—mostly due to spelling errors or mismatches in Aadhaar data—have led to many being marked as invalid.
Why UIDs Become Invalid
Even small differences, such as a single letter changed in a student’s name, can make the UID invalid in the system. These issues are common, especially when school records don’t exactly match the details on a student’s Aadhaar card.
To address this, schools must now review the list of invalid UIDs available through the UID analysis feature on Sampoorna. For each affected student, head teachers are instructed to upload a clear Aadhaar image, which must display the student’s photo, Aadhaar number, full name, date of birth, and gender.
In addition to the image, schools must also fill in a field specifying why the UID is invalid—for example, spelling changes or mismatched birth dates. All of this has to be submitted online by July 16.
Role of KITE in Final Verification
After schools submit the required data, KITE (Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education), which developed the Sampoorna portal, will handle the verification. Using special login credentials, KITE’s master trainers will check and validate the corrected UID details.
This step ensures that the data is accurate and consistent before it is finalized for use in administrative processes, such as allocating teaching staff.

What Changes Are Acceptable
The Directorate has provided clear guidelines for what types of errors can be accepted during this correction window:
- If the student’s name has up to three letter changes, the UID can still be validated.
- For students other than those in Class I, if the year of birth matches and only the month or date is different between Aadhaar and Sampoorna, the UID can be corrected and accepted online.
However, if a Class I student’s record has any date of birth error, or if more than two fields (such as name, date of birth, and gender) are mismatched, then a different process is required.
In such cases, the school must submit a correction request. The issue will then be taken up in a special hearing before July 21, chaired by the Deputy Director of Education and a committee that includes the KITE district coordinator.
No Extension Will Be Granted
The circular, issued by Director of General Education Shanavas S, makes it clear that no extension will be allowed beyond the July 16 deadline. Schools are expected to complete the entire correction process within the given timeframe.
With the UID correction process underway, schools across Kerala must act promptly to ensure student records are updated and accurate. The timely correction of these errors is not only a compliance requirement but also essential for smooth planning and staff allocation in the academic year ahead.
