The addition of robotics to the tenth-grade ICT textbook, particularly in the sixth chapter called “The World of Robots” in the first volume, is set to give students a chance to dive into essential robotics concepts through fun and interactive activities. fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg
In a groundbreaking move, Kerala has become the first state in India to require robotics education for all 4.3 lakh students in class 10, starting from the new academic year on June 2. fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg

According to an official statement released on Sunday, this integration will allow students to engage in activities like building circuits, using sensors and actuators, and programming computers to control electronic devices, as explained by K Anvar Sadath, CEO of KITE and Chairman of the ICT Textbook Committee. KITE serves as the technical arm of the Kerala government’s General Education Department.
To support this initiative, 29,000 robotic kits have already been distributed to high schools throughout the state, ensuring that the curriculum is effectively implemented. fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg
“This ambitious initiative builds on Kerala’s previous achievement of making Artificial Intelligence (AI) education available to all seventh-grade students, marking another national first accomplished in the last academic year,” Sadath noted. fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg
Continuing its commitment to equipping students with future-ready skills, AI learning has also been included in the ICT textbooks for grades 8, 9, and 10. fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg
The hands-on experience gained from the robotics program piloted for Little KITEs (Kerala’s IT club for students) has played a crucial role in shaping this extensive rollout for all class 10 students, the statement added.fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg
The first hands-on activity in the textbook invites students to get creative with components from the robotic kits provided – think Arduino breadboards, IR sensors, servo motors, and jumper wires – as they build an automated sanitizer dispenser that springs into action when it detects a hand.
As they move forward, students will dive into the exciting world of AI by designing smart home automation systems, including smart doors that use face recognition.
To make this happen, they’ll tap into the ‘Face Detection Built-in Model’ available in the Pictoblocks software’s programming IDE, using webcams on their laptops and Arduino kits supplied by KITE to set up the door-opening mechanisms. fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg fg
KITE’s innovative approach to robotics education aims to empower students with the skills they need to tackle a variety of real-world challenges using the latest technologies.
KITE has already kicked off the first phase of training for the new tenth-grade ICT textbook, reaching 9,924 teachers. Sadath mentioned that specialized robotics training for teachers is set to take place in July.
Additionally, KITE is committed to providing more robotic kits to support schools that follow the state syllabus and may need extra resources.
The ICT textbook is being made available to all students in Malayalam, English, Tamil, and Kannada, as stated by the official.
