DU Admissions 2025: Hindu College, SRCC, and St. Stephen’s Set Record High Cut-Offs in First Round
With the kick off o 2025–26 undergraduate admissions top-tier colleges such as Hindu College, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), and St. Stephen’s College have emerged as frontrunners with a highly competitive first round of seat allocations, setting new records with their sky-high cut-off scores.
Based on candidates’ performance in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), Delhi University has published the minimum allocation scores (or cut-offs) required for each program and college. These cut-offs indicate the marks out of which a student qualifies for a seat in a particular course and are determined after considering preferences, category-wise reservations, and CUET scores under the Common Seat Allocation System for Undergraduate Programs (CSAS-UG).
Hindu College Tops the Charts in Humanities
Hindu College has taken the spotlight in the Humanities stream this year. With an outstanding score of 950.58 out of 1,000 for the BA (Hons) Political Science (General category), it has set the highest cut-off for any course across the university.
Other top humanities courses and their cut-offs include:
- Political Science (Hons) at Miranda House: 925.98
- Psychology (Hons) at Lady Shri Ram College: 926.53
- BA Programme (History + Political Science) at Hindu College: 936.18
- English (Hons) at St. Stephen’s College: 926.93
This year’s trend confirms that cut-offs for premium humanities courses continue to hover well above the 900 mark—highlighting both the prestige and competition for these seats.
SRCC Retains Its Crown in Commerce
In the Commerce stream, SRCC once again set the bar high. With a top cut-off of 917.43 for BCom (Hons), the college remains the most sought-after destination for commerce aspirants.
Other leading colleges in this stream include:
- Hindu College: 912.21
- Lady Shri Ram College: 906.37
- Hansraj College: 901.71
At the other end of the spectrum, Zakir Husain Delhi College (Evening) recorded the lowest allocation score of 683.38 in the BCom (Hons) category, underlining the vast differences in demand and competition between institutions.
The BCom Programme also saw strong numbers, with Kirori Mal College posting the highest cut-off at 883.99.
St. Stephen’s Dominates the Science Stream
In the Science stream, St. Stephen’s College stood out with the highest cut-off of 834.08 for Mathematics (Hons). Other leading scores include:
- Physics (Hons) at St. Stephen’s: 578.76
- Zoology (Hons) at Hindu College: 678.44
Unlike the Humanities and Commerce streams—where scores are calculated out of 1,000 based on four subjects—most Science programs are graded out of 750, using marks from the top three subjects. Computer Science and Mathematics, however, continue to be exceptions and are still graded out of 1,000.
Massive First-Round Allocations Reflect High Demand
Delhi University allocated 93,166 seats in the first round against a total of 71,624 available seats, showing a deliberate over-allocation to allow internal reshuffling—an approach commonly used in previous years to manage seat migration.
By 9:40 p.m. on July 20, a total of 72,659 candidates had accepted their assigned seats, with 14,939 applications already approved by colleges. In a remarkable show of urgency, 27,533 students accepted their seats within just two hours of the allocation list going live.
The seat acceptance deadline for this round is 4:59 p.m. on July 21, followed by college-level approval by July 22 and fee payment by July 23.
Inclusive Allocations and Performance-Based Admissions Ahead
The admission cycle also reflects DU’s inclusive approach:
- 259 orphan candidates received allocations, including 127 girls and 132 boys
- 1,325 allocations were made under the Single Girl Child category
In the upcoming third stage, DU will allocate performance-based courses such as Hindustani and Karnataka music, percussion, physical education, and fine arts. Trial schedules for these courses will be posted on respective college websites.
The second round of seat allocation will be released at 5 p.m. on July 28, and the academic session for first-year students is set to begin on August 1.
