The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2025 list the top research universities in Asia. This year’s rankings include up to 853 universities from 35 countries and territories.
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is ranked first in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Asia Rankings 2025, which were released on April 23. IISc is ranked 38th on the list. The other Indian universities on the list are Anna University (ranked 111th), Mahatma Gandhi University (ranked 140th), and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore (ranked 131st).
All Indian institutes have seen a drop in their rankings when compared to those released in 2024. In contrast, IISc fell from 32nd to 38th place. Anna University and Mahatma Gandhi University which, in the 2024 edition, were ranked at 119 and 134, respectively, and presently stand at 111 and 140.

According to the Times Higher Education Asia Rankings 2025, the Indian Institute of Science is ranked 38th out of all the institutions.

The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2025 list the top research universities in Asia. This year’s rankings include up to 853 universities from 35 countries and territories.
China continues to dominate the rankings, with five of the top ten places, Tsinghua University in first place, and Peking University in second. Hong Kong’s The University of Hong Kong (6), Singapore’s National University of Singapore (3), Nanyang Technological University (4), Japan’s The University of Tokyo (5), and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (9) are also among the top 10.
The four countries making their first appearance on the list are Syria, Bahrain, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia. All six of Hong Kong’s top-ranked universities are featured in the list for the first time since 2017.
