JEE Mains 2025 questions have again created nationwide controversy, with the National Testing Agency (NTA) facing intense criticism just a week after the NEET UG debacle. The announcement of the provisional answer key and response sheets on April 11 for Session 2 has raised a storm of complaints from students, parents, and teachers, questioning the competence and transparency of the agency seriously.
Kota, Rajasthan — India’s best-known coaching center for engineering entrance aspirants — students were the first to point out glaring discrepancies. At least nine significant errors in the JEE Main 2025 April 9 paper were pointed out by these students, four in physics, three in chemistry, and two in mathematics, as per a report by Times of India.
Top Coaching Centers and Experts Vilify the NTA
Leading coaching centers have supported the students’ assertions, cautioning that these are not insignificant errors but basic errors in the JEE Main 2025 questions. Subject matter experts have pointed out that these mistakes can have a considerably massive bearing on students’ scores, compromising the integrity of the examination process.
Educator and X (formerly Twitter) commentator Pramod Kamath posted an X post condeming the lapses, deeming one of the physics questions on the April 7 AM shift “conceptually flawed.” He stated, “It’s not acceptable that such elementary errors are finding place in national-level exams,” suggesting that if those weren’t being fixed, that would be tantamount to an enormity injustice done to lakhs of wannabes.
Another user explained the mess thus: “Tragedy of errors – JEE Main response sheet is not the same as what students really filled in many instances + NTA gave lots of answers wrongly.”

JEE MAINS 2025 QUESTIONS: Is the Response Sheet Error More Hurtful Than the Answer Key?
Aside from the answer key anomalies, there have been numerous complaints from students and parents regarding gross errors in their response sheets. Some of these include misrecorded responses, totally blank submissions, and discrepancies between what was attempted and what shows in the system.
Kamath, a concerned parent too, tweeted, “Yes my daughter tried 71 questions. At the time of submission it displayed 71 questions tried & now in response sheet all questions are marked as not answered! Shocking! NTA playing with children’s future. No reply on email!”
The same problem has been faced by students throughout the country. One student of the April 3 shift 2 session reported that his response in physics was changed, while another parent, Rekha Verma, stated, “My daughter has tried 50 questions but it is displaying 48. So many questions displaying the wrong attempt. We will send to NTA for this mistake. I am very concerned about her.”
A user posted: “Actually we are also facing same problem on answer sheet provided by NTA. We request to the management to examine and release error-free results.”
A mother reported that her child, who consistently scored 180–190 in practice tests, is experiencing sudden dips now due to wrong answers indicated in the sheet — answers which, in her opinion, the child never chose.
Blank Answers and a Silent NTA Fuel Frustration
Among the most agonizing complaints are those pertaining to blank answers. Some candidates report their genuine efforts not being recorded at all, while others have discovered some responses completely missing. One user posted, “Answers submitted were not taken into account and appear as ‘blank’. An email to NTA remained unanswered. Ridiculous that they administer an exam for such top institutes and are least concerned about the transparency. Who will guard the guards?”
Yet another post disclosed that a similar phenomenon took place in the paper of a sibling, where a response the student clearly remembered marking was missing altogether.
Political Pressure Mounts as Opponents Demand Accountability
The incident has also drawn political interest. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate blasted the NTA on X, citing not only the JEE Main 2025 question controversy but earlier irregularities in CUET-UG and NEET-UG.
“Is the NTA able to carry out these exams?” Shrinate asked, “Wasn’t the tension of unemployment and paper leaks enough for our young generation that now they have to face a vulnerable NTA as well?”
Her words reflect the feelings of thousands of students and parents across the country who have been betrayed by a system supposed to reward merit.

What’s Next for JEE Aspirants?
The objection window for the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 provisional answer key has already passed, and the results are due on April 17. But considering such widespread agitation over the quality and accuracy of question papers and response sheets, students are now demanding immediate remedial measures.
Several are demanding that the NTA drop the controversial questions or give all candidates grace marks to make it fair. Legal experts have also questioned the transparency of the evaluation process of the exam.
Until now, there has not been any official word from the NTA on the matter, keeping lakhs of JEE hopefuls worried and in suspense. With engineering admissions to elite institutions such as IITs, NITs, and IIITs depending on these results, the pressure on the NTA to act quickly and decisively is more than ever before.
The question now is: will the NTA recognize the errors in JEE Main 2025 questions and correct them — or will students again pay the price for institutional negligence?
