NBEMS Issues Guidance for Technical Problems
With NEET PG 2026 scheduled for August 30, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has clarified what candidates should do if they face technical difficulties during the computer-based examination. The guidance covers situations including power failure, loss of server connectivity, locked computers and malfunctioning equipment.
The instructions are aimed at ensuring that candidates do not lose examination time because of technical disruptions at their centres.
What Happens During a Power Failure?
NBEMS has stated that candidates do not need to take any action if a power failure occurs after they have logged into the examination system. The exam timer will automatically stop when the disruption occurs and will resume once the power supply is restored.
According to the board, candidates will not lose examination time because of such an interruption.
Candidate Computer Gets Locked
A computer may become locked if connectivity with the primary server is interrupted during the examination. In such a situation, candidates have been advised not to panic.
The IT manager assigned to the examination room will verify the candidate’s details and unlock the account. The examination timer will then resume from the point at which the candidate was disconnected.
Report Screen and System Problems Immediately
Candidates experiencing issues such as screen flickering, mouse malfunction, repeated system freezes or a computer becoming unresponsive must immediately inform the invigilator.
After receiving the complaint, the invigilator or IT manager will verify the problem and secure the candidate’s examination system. If necessary, the candidate may be moved to a buffer seat in the same or another computer lab so that the examination can continue.
Candidates Advised Not to Panic
The instructions make clear that technical disruptions are expected to be handled by the examination centre’s technical and supervisory staff. Candidates should therefore immediately report a problem rather than attempting to fix the computer themselves.
Promptly informing the invigilator is particularly important because the examination authorities need to verify and document the technical issue before taking corrective action.
NEET PG 2026 Exam Scheduled for August 30
The NEET PG 2026 examination will be conducted in computer-based mode on August 30 across examination centres in India. The examination will be held in a single shift, with candidates required to answer 180 questions within 210 minutes.
NBEMS has also introduced measures aimed at making the examination process more candidate-friendly, including advance information about test cities and efforts to allot candidates centres closer to their preferred locations.
Admit Card Release and Exam-Day Preparations
Candidates should keep checking the official NBEMS portal for their admit card and other examination-related instructions. The latest schedule indicates that NEET PG 2026 admit cards are due to be released on August 24, ahead of the August 30 examination.
Candidates should reach their allotted examination centres well in advance and carry all documents specified in the official instructions.
