The Bachelor of Science in Management and Public Policy program aims to address national managerial goals related to sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and community-driven development. It’s crafted to empower future change-makers with the tools they need to bridge the gap between policy and real-world application at the grassroots level. Admissions will be determined based on scores from the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
On the other hand, the Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program is geared towards boosting the country’s digital capabilities and enhancing its global competitiveness. Staying true to its commitment to innovation with integrity, this program has been co-designed with industry experts to cultivate future-ready skill sets while promoting the ethical use of AI. Admissions for this program will be conducted through the IIT JEE Main.
“The interdisciplinary courses are tailored to nurture responsible leaders who can tackle complex societal and industrial challenges with creativity, empathy, and a global outlook,” the statement added. The admissions for the B.S. programs are set to kick off in June 2025, with classes for the inaugural batch starting in September.
Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, the director of IIM Sambalpur, expressed his excitement, saying, “We take immense pride in launching our Bachelor of Science (B.S.) four-year fully residential program. This initiative is a groundbreaking step towards nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. Aligned with India’s National Education Policy (NEP 2020), our goal is to cultivate responsible leaders who possess an entrepreneurial mindset.”
He further explained, “These undergraduate programs feature a flexible structure, allowing students to earn a certificate after one year, a diploma after two years, a degree after three years, and an honors degree upon completing four years, with multiple entry and exit points.”
The event also included a roundtable discussion titled, ‘Global Capability Centres (GCCs) as Engines of Innovation for Global Enterprises.’
Bramhanand Jha, PMP and vice president at the National eGovernance Division under MeitY, Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India, was the chief guest. He remarked, “India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs) have evolved beyond being mere low-cost arbitrage centers; they are now strategic innovation hubs that add value to global businesses. As the economy transitions to a digital-first model, GCCs are at the forefront of creating agile, technology-driven, and future-ready organizations.”
Keynote speakers at the event included Lt. Col. Piyush Shukla, the director of JEE at the National Testing Agency (NTA), and Rajesh Kumar, the director of CUET, both from the NTA. They discussed the changing role of GCCs as vital centers for driving innovation and global digital transformation, sharing valuable insights on the future of global enterprises and the strategic importance of GCCs.

It’s truly inspiring to see institutions such as IIM Sambalpur roll out creative undergraduate programs that combine analytical skills with expertise in policy and technology,” Shukla remarked.
“Our goal at NTA is to create a robust and inclusive testing framework that aligns with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, preparing students for leadership and innovation on a global scale,” he continued.
“With the introduction of CUET, we’ve taken a significant step toward making quality higher education more accessible in India. Global Capability Centres are shaping the future of work, and through a fair, transparent, and standardized testing environment, NTA is committed to facilitating this change by empowering the next generation of globally competent professionals,” Kumar stated.
