
DU Introduces SUGAM to Improve Campus Accessibility
Delhi University has introduced the SUGAM Navigation System, an innovative accessibility solution developed by students of Maitreyi College. The initiative aims to make campus navigation easier for persons with disabilities by offering an inclusive indoor guidance system that promotes independent mobility.

The SUGAM Navigation System has been created to assist individuals with different accessibility needs while moving through indoor spaces. The platform provides voice-based navigation for users with visual impairments, visual prompts and vibration alerts for those with hearing impairments, and simplified route guidance for individuals with mobility challenges.
To improve usability, the system also includes multilingual support and digital campus services, allowing users to navigate educational spaces more confidently without depending on constant assistance.

The project was conceptualised and developed by students of Maitreyi College with guidance from faculty members across multiple academic disciplines.
